
Indonesian students achieved remarkable success by winning three silver medals at the 35th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) in Astana on Saturday, July 13. This accomplishment highlights the exceptional capabilities of Indonesian students on an international stage.
The prestigious silver medals were awarded to Aaron Christian Endrij from SMAK BPK Gading Serpong, Keisha Rochelline Simorangkir from SMAN 8 Jakarta, and Erlangga Dief Putra Hamam from SMA Al Irsyad Al Islamiyah. Additionally, Samuel Cristian from SMAN 19 Jakarta participated in the IBO 2024, representing Indonesia among the world’s best young biologists.
“I am extremely proud of Team Indonesia’s accomplishments at IBO 2024. This success demonstrates that Indonesian students can compete and excel on the international stage,” said M. Fadjroel Rachman, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, during the closing ceremony and medal presentation.
“This accomplishment also shows that Indonesia has great talents ready to compete in international competitions. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students, as well as the support from their parents, teachers, and coaches. The National Achievement Center of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology has played a crucial role in fostering and guiding these young talents,” Ambassador Fadjroel emphasized.
The 35th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2024, held at the Congress Center in Astana, Kazakhstan, from July 7 to 14, featured 294 students from 78 countries. The competition provided a platform for young biologists to showcase their knowledge and skills in various biological sciences, including genetics, ecology, and molecular biology.
The success of the Indonesian team at IBO 2024 is a proud moment for the nation. It reflects the quality of education and the potential of its students to excel in global competitions.
