Indonesia Sets 2025 Hajj Cost at Rp89.4 Million
The Indonesian government, in collaboration with the House of Representatives (DPR), has finalized the 2025 Hajj cost Indonesia, setting it at Rp89.4 million (around USD5,524.35) per pilgrim.
This marks a 4.28% decrease from last year’s cost of Rp93.4 million. The decision comes after several rounds of discussions with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and other involved parties.
The finalized cost, Rp89,410,258.79 per person, will be partially covered by the government.
Abdul Wachid, the chairman of the DPR’s working committee on Hajj costs, explained that pilgrims will be responsible for 62% of the total amount, which is Rp55,431,750.78 (USD3,425.33), while the government will fund the remaining 38%, totaling Rp33,978,508.01 (USD2,099.65).
This arrangement aims to make the pilgrimage more accessible to Indonesians by alleviating some of the financial pressure.
The government’s contribution will cover essential expenses, including round-trip flights to Saudi Arabia from Indonesia, accommodation in Mecca and Medina, and daily living costs during the pilgrimage abroad.
In a joint meeting held at the Parliament Complex, Minister Nasaruddin Umar, Deputy Minister Romo Muhammad Syafi’i, and Director General of Hajj and Umrah Hilman Latief confirmed the final figures.
The meeting also addressed logistical preparations for the pilgrimage, an important religious event for Muslims worldwide.
To ease the payment process for pilgrims, the government has introduced flexibility. Payments can be made directly into designated Hajj accounts at authorized banks, with the option for installment payments until the deadline. This flexibility will help families manage the cost of the pilgrimage.
Although the cost has been reduced, the government assures that the quality of the pilgrimage experience will remain high.
The services covered include comfortable accommodations, organized transportation, and religious guidance throughout the journey, ensuring that the experience is spiritually fulfilling for Indonesian pilgrims while also being mindful of the economy to keep costs manageable.
Cost Reduction Reflects Efficient Management
The reduction in Hajj costs is particularly notable amid global economic challenges. The government has managed to absorb a significant portion of the cost, showing a commitment to making the pilgrimage more affordable.
According to Abdul Wachid, chairman of the DPR’s working committee on Hajj costs, the cost reduction was possible due to better coordination with the private sector and improved management of logistics.
While the Ministry of Religious Affairs initially proposed a higher cost of Rp89,666,469.26 (USD5,408.13) for the 2025 Hajj, the final figure was reduced after negotiations with the DPR.
