Kendari (ANTARA) – The Kendari Immigration Office has deported a Chinese national after it was revealed that he had been exploiting Indonesia’s immigration system.
Head of the Kendari Immigration Office, Soesilo Sumedi, stated on Thursday that the Chinese citizen, identified as LT, was apprehended at a stone-crushing company in Moramo Sub-district, South Konawe District, on August 8, 2024.
“This foreign citizen was caught abusing his residence permit and was promptly deported on August 14, 2024, through Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Jakarta,” Sumedi confirmed.
The deportation follows a targeted immigration surveillance operation aimed at curbing unlawful activities by foreign nationals, particularly from China. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of Chinese nationals violating Indonesian laws and taking advantage of the country’s resources.
“After a thorough investigation, it was confirmed that the Chinese national had breached Indonesian immigration regulations, violating Article 122 letter A of Law No. 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration,” Sumedi stated.
Sumedi emphasized that these actions are necessary to protect Indonesia’s national security and prevent foreign exploitation of the country’s resources and opportunities.
“We are determined to take strict action against any foreign nationals who break our laws and threaten the stability of our nation,” he remarked.
The Kendari Immigration Office reaffirmed its commitment to upholding Indonesia’s sovereignty, warning foreign nationals, particularly from China, that violations of the law will not be tolerated and will be met with swift deportation.
“We will not allow any individual or foreign entity to disrupt the order and safety of our country,” Sumedi added, urging all foreigners to respect Indonesian laws or face the consequences.
